Susan Success Story

Susan has been able to fulfill her dreams of completing her studies and finally graduating. When she joined the program as a young girl, she said that she wanted to help the less fortunate children in the future in any way possible. She was determined to complete her studies and succeed in her chosen career path.

Susan has finally been able to complete her studies and graduated just as she hoped! She was studying at the Thika School of Medical and Health Sciences where she took a course in community development and social work. This particular course will allow her to not only help the less fortunate children, but to also help the people in her community as well. She will be able to improve the quality of their lives, help them address the socioeconomic barriers that often lead to poverty, crime, poor health, and so on.

Susan hopes to get a job where she can transform society by helping the vulnerable and championing better lives for other less fortunate children like she was.

Tabitha Graduation Story

Tabitha is a calm and collected young girl yet very ambitious and resilient. She joined the program in 2008 when she was a young girl in grade 3. She worked hard through her primary, secondary and university studies and today, she is one of our successful graduates.

In her university studies, she pursued a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and specialized in Procurement and Logistics at the Kenya Methodist University.

Currently, she is a contractor for NRCF and Karibu Loo under the TechMates program specializing in Digital Marketing. This is after she underwent a 6 months training under the program. She is also a Blockchain Website Translator and content writer for Lido Nation which is a Cardano staking pool.

Tabitha hopes to reach more milestones in her career and inspire young girls.

Alumni Stories – Meet Stacy

Info Credits: www.cioafrica.co | August 2021 Magazine

Background story

Stacy is a proud beneficiary of our organization. She joined NRCF back in 2009. She was raised by her grandparents. Despite the challenges during her childhood life she always wore her smile and was known for her talkative nature. Her dream was to become a beautician but ended up in a different career as an events coordinator, which she is even happier in and compliments her attributes. She now has a dream of offering her services within the company she works for globally. She is a role model to many students in our organization. She has organized a couple of donations to our organization from various companies as a way of giving back. Keep up the great work Stacy, we are proud of you.

Food Aid Donation Appeal

The community we work with is extremely vulnerable to the harm COVID-19 will inflict on people.  Most of the students’ parents and guardians have pre-existing health conditions such as HIV/AIDS, they all have limited income (usually earned by performing casual labor that has already evaporated) and in the slums, there is no such thing as “social distance”.

We have increased our budget for emergency food aid and believe it will be sorely needed in the coming weeks. A donation of kes 1000 can provide a food packet that feeds a family of four for one week. We have approximately 300 families dependent on our program.

Endless Computer Grant

In January 2020, Endless Solutions and an anonymous donor made computer access possible for the students at NRCF by donating 60 endless mini-PCs. The PCs were pre-installed with the Kytabu Curriculum which is a collection of online textbooks approved by Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development. Forty-eight (48) PCs were deployed and setup in our local office computer lab where students started using them

The computers are powered by the open-source Endless Operating System and have been designed for populations with little access to technology or internet connectivity. Endless PCs include more than 100 free education and productivity applications that don’t require an Internet connection.

NRCF is grateful for the improved student access to technology and wealth of opportunity for students to continue learning made possible by Endless Solutions and the anonymous donor.
